ABOUT THE ARTIST

Francesca Esme Morris is a freelance illustrator, artist and designer living in Oxford. Her work is a mix of drawing from the world around her, while conveying consciousness, nostalgia and capturing glimpses of experience through seeing and translating into visual imagery. After graduating with a degree in BA Hons Illustration, at Ruskin school of Art in Cambridge Francesca has been evolving her style and allowing her work to manifest through her artistic journey. Deeply drawn to working organically, Francesca works primarily with gouache, acrylics, inks and collage with an avid passion for colour. Favourite subjects tend to range from narrative/dreams/religion/music/nature/people/fashion with an ethereal and contemporary touch. Currently Francesca is working on commissions, picture books, packaging design, fashion illustration and personal paintings.

Drawing to me is a mystical exercise that permits us to devote our attention to the now. Looking at shapes and form, responding by looking deeper, with a curious intent at the world around us. I’m fascinated by this and by the power of our own individualism. Aesthetics come later, with my own desire I love to express a scene with vivid colours and abstraction. Whether its rendered by symbolism or creating a mood with expression.
